Elizabeth Yurnet of District Heights, Md. was inducted into Bowie State University's chapter of the Phi Alpha National Honor Society, which fosters high standards of education for social workers and admits those with excellent scholarship and achievement in social work. Yurnet is a senior majoring in social work.

For undergraduate membership, students are required to be juniors or seniors majoring in social work, complete nine credit hours of core social work courses, and achieve an overall 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale, with a 3.25 GPA in social work courses. Inductees must also be active members of the BSU Social Work Club and submit a one-page proposal for a community service project.
